Biography
Hailing from Istanbul, Turkey, Nihan Devecioglu has developed a vocal practice grounded in a search for understanding across cultural boundaries.

After receiving a Bachelors degree in Communications from Istanbul Bilgi University and a Masters degree in Music from Istanbul Technical University, in 2003 Nihan went on to study Opera Singing for five years at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.

Freely exploring the vast boundaries of musical expression on these premises, Nihan seeks for inspiration in sources of distinct natures: the opera, the avant-garde, early music, world music, Turkish sufi and folk and contemporary art of various forms.

Her vocal diversity prepared her among others for such varied and prestigious projects as the collaboration with Bobby McFerrin in Instant Opera! at Carnegie Hall, performances at the at theBrooklyn Academy of Music in New York, Solo Concerts among others at the Stuttgart Music Festival, International Jazz Herbst Salzburg Festival, Die Glocke Bremen, Klangvokal Festival Dortmund, Theater Bremen...
